Hello there! Thanks for stopping by. I consider it an honor that you would take some time out of your day to check out my website. I guess to begin, I'm an Iowain native, but have seemingly made roots in the Twin Cities. While I tend to have a crazy schedule, when I DO have time to recharge, I love traveling (who doesn't!?), listening to worship music, dancing, working out, reading, finding incredible coffee shops to kick back at with friends, eating sushi (I'm totally addicted to Yummi's Sushi in Excelsior, MN!) and of course, capturing life through my camera lens. 

   I've always loved photography. There were times my family would call me paparazzi because I would always be taking photos. Little did I know that photography was something that I would grow to love. At college, I won an award for a photography I had submitted to an art show, but it was not until 2012, when my college roommate had me take her maternity photos and she expressed to me that I was very gifted as a photographer and should pursue it more. So, after a year of working on my portfolio and continuing to learn as much as I could, I finally decided to launch Crystal Joy Photography in the Spring of 2014. It has been one of the most terrifying and exhilarating things I have done, because the photos I capture of you are in essence a part of me and an outpouring of my heart and soul (not vulnerable at all, right?). But let me tell you, it's been so worth it. For over two years, I've been blessed to photography Weddings, Couples in love and soon-to-be parents as well as Headshots for business professionals. I love capturing it all!

As for my photography style, I LOVE natural light, especially the golden hour (many would say that sessions during this time of the day are my "signature", and if you look at my photos, you'll see that coming through). I also like raw, organic moments, because I find that these moments are the moments people lovingly look back on. I'd also say that my photography is beginning to lean more towards the lifestyle portraiture that is being seen in the photography arena, and photos are becoming a bit moodier as well. So if you're looking for your photo galleries to be composed of posed compositions, you'll get some of these, but more of your session will be candid moments that are rich with emotion and dimension.

Call me old school, but let me also disclose about how passionate I am about getting your final prints printed by my professional printer before you get all of your images. This is how I've done business since launching Crystal Joy Photography. Why? Because in the end, your photos that find their home up on your wall, if they aren't printed by a professional printer, you might be very disappointed, because the quality just won't be there. Your prints are the very last step of becoming keepsakes. They are images beholding countless hours of editing and will be what you and your loved ones see for years to come. So when you take them to your average printer, essentially, that is what your photos printed out will look like: average.

And I'm all about providing above and beyond average for you and your life's beautiful, unscripted moments. Always.
